Plan B was also an epic failure, which I have already discussed since I sewed it before I sewed the garment that was already planned for the wardrobe.
Plan C, DING-DING-DING, we have a winner! This top is the ever popular New Look 6735 that I sewed up in a gray rayon lycra knit. In the photo, I don't have the sleeve hem or the bottom hem sewn yet. I need to finish with the black thread in the serger on the jeans before I move it onto the coverstitch machine. What makes this a winner is the embellishments I added to it.
This is the most fun I've had in the sewing room in a long time. I did some major google searches on embellished t-shirts from RTW and then I googled different ways to make fabric flowers. I took a bit from several inspirations and then worked on placement until I found just the right look. I really love the look. It transforms a plain, but really nice t-shirt into a very expensive looking t-shirt.
I can't wait to get the jeans sewn up so I can do my photo shoot. I ordered some red shoes and some leopard designed shoes, both from Naturalizer, and think I can style these pieces to look fabulous. Now if I can only get the jeans sewn up, the reviews posted, and the photo composite complete before Thursday.
Love Plan C. L-O-V-E !!!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! It looks very RTW! Great job :)))
ReplyDeleteThe embellishments look great! What a great T!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the t-shirt! You will have to do a tutorial on what you did because that is fabu!
ReplyDeleteOh my. Your fabric flowers made this truly fabulous. What a winner!
ReplyDeletehey my word verification is swakises just what this T deserves
Please post a tute! Great look!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your embellished t-shirt. I am currently sewing this pattern and hope mine is as successful as yours!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! That is a definite winner! Maybe you'll show us how you made your flowers and leaves? Please?
ReplyDeleteFabulous Tee! More embellishments, please!
ReplyDeleteReally nice! That embellished gray shirt is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh I so want to copy every single detail of your grey embellished top. Is the embellishment one long shirred piece? It's great.
ReplyDeleteI think Plan A would have worked better if you placed the darker areas at the bust and the tummy. But I don't think this is a wadder. It will look great under a black cardigan or jacket. I always like the look of an animal print peeking out from under something more conservative.
And I love the color and fabric of Plan B and think it would look great with some nice black slacks and some heels. It's such a rich look that it needs dressing up. Don't give up on it either!
With a bit of tweaking, you have two good tops, and with nothing but your great smile, you've got an amazing grey top!

Hi Sherril! Thanks for your message on my poor dying blog :) I'm loving that third blouse - the fabric flowers are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI just love your embellishment! Reminds me that embellishment can be a classy look; I always avoid it for fear of the Crafty Crazies.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the leopard top. It took me a while to figure out what "stripes" you were referring to. I don't find them noticeable.
Plan C is definitely a winner!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! I need to make up a shirt like that! Love, love, love the flowers.
