I made it through my procedure yesterday. It was such an ordeal, especially when the surgery center had me come in six hours before getting me into the operating room. My mother in law had her cataract surgery scheduled on the same day so my husband had to be with her. She is 77 yo, has no husband and Bob is her only child. Of course he had to be with her. That worked out OK because while I was waiting my six hours, six hours!, he showed up before they took me in. It was nice to have him there with me.
When the Dr. was finished with my procedure he went out and told my husband that I had several polyps in my uterus. I'm guessing he removed them. I'm guessing that we are waiting to hear from the pathologist. The Dr. never came in to talk to me after the procedure. I have a follow-up office visit scheduled with the nurse practitioner on April 5th. I hope that if they find cancer, that at least they call me before my appointment. I mean, it would be nice to know.
I can't believe I had to fast for so long. I mean, I was starving! The hard part now is that since I had to miss four of my scheduled meals, I have to start back to step 1 for 10 days of my diet. No carbs for 10 days! Since I'm still recovering today, I'll start tomorrow. :)
The good news is that I feel fine today and am planning on cutting out and sewing a couple of new tops. I haven't decided exactly what patterns I'll use.
Thank you everyone who kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I'll update again as soon as I hear something more.
I'm sending good vibes your way. Prayers too. I'm sorry you have to start back at step 1 of your diet. How fair is that?
ReplyDeleteSix hours. That stinks. Glad you are feeling better. Hope everything comes out good. Waiting is always hard.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it went well! I thought of you often yesterday! :) HOpefully your pathology will be all clear and you'll feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! Doctors sure do like to make us wait don't they! I'm hoping your results come out okay.

I'm glad it's over and pray that you will get wonderful news from the dr. at your visit!
ReplyDeletePraying for a quick recover.
ReplyDeletehi,
ReplyDeleteAs a nurse I can advise you to feel free to call the DR's office that did your proceedure and ask to talk to the nurse. If he doesn't have a nurse in his office, some don't now as a result of budget cuts etc tell the receptionist. Tell her that while he talked to your husband he didn't talk to you afterwards. Talking to your husband shouldn't really qualify as speaking to you. Where I am from, docs always speak with pt's afterwards, sometimes they are unable to right afterwards due to an emergency or something though, and sometimes they forget that they didn't go back to talk with patient.
I'm happy for you that it is now over, now wishing the best for the results. Take Care
ReplyDeleteWarm wishes for a rapid recovery and a clear result.
ReplyDeleteHope everything goes well. Definitely talk to the doctor at his office.
ReplyDeleteDoctors need to work on their communication skills... I'm sorry you are still in the dark. I hope that all is well and benign. Good luck with your sewing projects and the diet- that's more will power than I have!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the procedure itself went smoothly, if not the circumstances surrounding it! Hoping for good news from pathology.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the procedure went well for you. I am sure it was just an oversight with the doctor and please give the office a call. I can tell that no news is good news. Drs are real good about getting back to you right away if it is something really serious. Don't ask how I know!
ReplyDeleteYou feel like cutting and sewing again?.....mmmm...you must be on the mend..
ReplyDeleteNo serious, I hope everything will turn out alright for you !!!
What an ordeal for a procedure that's supposed to be minor and routine. I think the worst part of fasting is the thirst! I feel for you having to wait that long. I'm confident that if something was amiss, you'd hear from the doctor's office, but calling them will ease your mind. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know that you are doing okay and I will pray that nothing comes back from the biospy!
ReplyDeleteI'm sending good thoughts your way. it sounds like it was quite a day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Sherrill, I'm just now catching up on my blog reading. I hope you are doing well and I'll keep you in my prayers for a positive outcome. If you need to talk to someone who's been through similar angst, let me know.

I'm a chronic lurker, but I wanted to let you know that I'm glad you're feeling well and sorry that you got such callous treatment. I also want you to know that I had the same symptoms almost 4 years ago and had the staging surgery two weeks after the D&C. Done with a laparoscope, it made for a very easy recovery. Neither I nor my oncologist have had any real worry about a recurrence. I forget that I'm a cancer survivor, and don't think of myself that way. I wish the same outcome for you if you do have to deal with that diagnosis.
